This year the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer was fast approaching & although many generous people already donated, my $1,800 goal was about $1k short. That's when the whole "shave the beard or keep it" for $1,000 came up. So thankful that Beck's Shoes Inc. stepped up and accepted that challenge. They also set me up with some amazingly comfortable New Balance San Jose shoes & socks. Look mom, no blisters! Again, thanks to Beck's & everyone else too for helping me surpass the goal!!
**UPDATE**: Beck's Shoes accepted the $1,000 Challenge! We are still taking any donations you can afford for early detection & treatment! $1,000 CHALLENGE! Over the past #192days, this beard has grown, and grown, and grown some more. Many people have asked when I was going to shave. A friend suggested I shave it for a donation to my favorite charity, but I figured I'd take it one more step. If any one person or company, with a single donation, donates $1,000 to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer using my link, I will KEEP or SHAVE my #192day beard. You have until 5/22/14 to make that $1,000 donation. This person or company will be recognized in the following ways. - A post on my homepage with your picture or logo. DancingCowboy.com - A post on my Facebook, Instagram & Twitter with your picture or logo. - Four mentions during the James Wesley Rodeo Club show. (600-900 people at a live show) - If shave is your choice, the option to make the first run of the electric clippers (before lessons at the James Wesley show). - Sorry, no 420 or XXX companies allowed. I will have the last say with regards to propriety. - If the donor wishes me to keep the beard, it will stay, AT LEAST, for the duration of the 365 days until #NoShaveNovember 2014 begins (Nov 1st, 2014) Should it stay, or should it go? A $1,000 donation decides!
This is the 4th year that I am walking in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer San Francisco 2014 with Team KRTY, and not only am I seeking donations, but I'm also donating 10% from every gig booked before the walk (July 12-13, 2014) to the cause as well. Your event does NOT have to be by that date, it just needs to be booked and have a deposit made.
This is the 3rd year that I am walking in the San Francisco Avon Walk for Breast Cancer with Team KRTY, and not only am I seeking donations, but I'm also donating 25% from every gig booked before the walk (September 28-29, 2013) to the cause as well. Last night I DJ'ed and taught line dance lessons at a 50th birthday party in San Francisco, CA!
They started the evening out with an amazing spread from a local catering service and I played some country music in the background.
After dinner we provided some fun & easy line dance lessons and then played Top 40 and 70's by request.
These people surprisingly had some stamina and danced the night away!
Do you know anyone having a country themed birthday coming up soon? Send em our way!

"Elliot Randall & The Deadmen, an emerging Americana/Outlaw Country band from San Francisco (although Elliot is originally from Charleston, SC). They've had a great year in 2010. They independently released their sophomore album "Caffeine & Gasoline" on February 9th and just weeks later debuted on the Americana radio charts at #28. They remained on the charts for seventeen weeks in the top 30. This was in the company of national acts like Patty Griffin, Band of Heathens, Lyle Lovett and the Crazy Heart Soundtrack. They also had the opportunity this year to support many national acts coming through town including Wynonna, Martina McBride, Steve Miller, Reckless Kelly, and the list goes on." - Dianna Arnspiger, Band Manager
Lets show them a Bay Area welcome and get out to the Independent!
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought this would be a great time to make the announcement that I'm going to WALK in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer 2011!
As you may know, I've been part of the team that supports the KRTY Avon walkers for the past 2 years, but this year I'm going to walk too!
